HIGHLIGHTING WHAT IS POSITIVE

Positive emotions widen the focus of our awareness and allow us to perceive more experiences. When contemplating what happens to us with a positive attitude, our perception changes.

The left prefrontal cortex is triggered when our mood is positive and energetic.

A GYM TO OUR MIND

Awareness is a kind of mental muscle which becomes stronger as it exercises. Memory aimed tasks develop this muscle as well as concentration does.

Noticing the moment when our mind starts to be distracted, and bringing it back again and again towards our goal is the mental equivalence to continuous weight lifting.

HOW TO APPLY EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE IN THE CLASSROOM

The teacher enters the classroom and asks every one of the students how they are feeling that day. Most of them reply just with a “Fine”, but one of them says he is worried about her mother’s health, and he adds that he is feeling anxious and uneasy.

It is essential to get students to speak about their emotions. It releases the tension accumulated and it helps them relax.

To achieve the maximum attention in the classroom, it is necessary to reach a relaxed atmosphere with calm students. This way they are able to focus their energy on the explanations by the teacher.

To make it possible for the students to express their emotions in the classroom, an atmosphere facilitating good communication with the teacher must be created.

SUMMER CAMP NAVAL 2ª - DAY 2

Today was a really hot day here in Naval. After our daily classes we played one of our pool games: SCRAPOOL. We put duck tape on the kids' goggles so that they can't see very well and we throw tiles with letters, coins and lollypops to the water. Then, kids get in the water with one aim: look for all the objects.

NAVAL 2ª TANDA - DAY 1

Hello everybody! We are back in Naval for a second round.

Today was our first day and it was a sunny, hot and busy day. After we arrived, we took a stroll around the village so that the new kids could adapt easily. After that, we went down to the Salinar of Naval. Going to the Salinar is an amazing experience: There are several pools where the concentration of salt is higher than in the Dead Sea, therefore bodies float and it is impossible to sink or dive.

SUMMER CAMP NAVAL - DAY 9

Unfortunately the Naval experience is coming to an end. We are leaving this place tomorrow afternoon so this is our last blog entry.

Today we had a unique opportunity to do something very original. Víctor, the baker in Naval, wanted to teach us how bread is made.

The kids made a wide variety of figures and shapes like turtles, cats, pizzas or snowmen. Víctor was very satisfied with the results.

Then the dough was put in the oven so the kids could take their creations to the albergue. You will see them tomorrow if they haven't eaten them.

We had a big paella for lunch and pizza for dinner, thanks to the great work of Jacinto and Mari Carmen, our chefs.

At night we had a big party where the kids could see the video of the camp and dance a little bit. They will have a DVD with pictures and the video.

These days have been magical, thank you all for reading, we hope to see you again next year!

Bye bye!!!

SUMMER CAMP NAVAL - DAY 5

The weather was a bit chilly today but we could still go to the pool in the morning.

SUMMER CAMP NAVAL - DAY 4

The weather was fantastic today and that allowed us to do one of our favourite pool games: Scrapool. In this game, monitors throw some tiles with letters to the pool and the kids have to look for them while diving.  To make things a little bit more difficult, we put black tape on the kids' goggles.

SUMMER CAMP NAVAL - DAY 3

Today was a great day! The weather was great so after the classes we went down to the Salinar. In the Salinar there are  several pools which have more concentration of water than the Dead Sea, therefore you float. Look at how they do it!

Intercultural skills when negotiating

Executives devoted to business deals with people from different countries must have some sort of special sensitivity to deal with those rules implicit in the process.

For instance, there is a ritual in Japan related to the exchange of visiting cards. They must be held in both hands, regarded carefully for a while, and place them in a special card holder, otherwise it may seen the person who has given the card to you is not appreciated.
