CAN ELECTRONIC DEVICES ACTUALLY HELP IMPROVE ONE´S MEMORY?

50 years ago we would memorize telephone numbers and addresses so as not to track them in a phone book. Back in those days, education was then based on the collection of concepts. The more one would memorize, the higher the chance to obtain good marks and pass examinations. Most of those over 40 still remember relatives and friends´ phone numbers.

Some experts state that nowadays we do not memorize phone numbers, nor addresses nor emails because these are kept on the memory of phones and computers. This is true, although it has moved on towards the collection of keys to access those electronic devices and the knowledge of the steps to look for some pieces of information on the Internet.

Due to these processes, the kind of mnemonic tasks used have changed. Lots of experts agree that it is more useful to be able to search information and correctly classify it than memorizing it for the pleasure of doing so.
